Old Fashioned Donuts

If you combine the flavor of an Old Fashioned cocktail and the irresistibility of a classic cake donut, you get these perfect holiday brunch treats.

Servings: 10 donuts


  • 3 tablespoons Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 oz. room temperature Butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease two donut pans and set aside.
  3. Measure the flour, baking powder, allspice and salt in a bowl, mix and set aside.
  4. Put the sugar, orange zest and butter in a mixing bowl. Mix on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well.
  6. Add Maker’s Mark® Bourbon. Mix.
  7. On low speed, alternate the addition of dry ingredients and buttermilk.
  8. Start and finish with dry ingredients.
  9. Mix slowly until the batter is smooth.
  10. Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill each cup about 3/4 of the way with the batter.
  11. Bake for 10-11 minutes.
