Yes, it's a Tough Job, But Someone's Got to Do it
Before they can join the Taste Panel, selected Maker's Mark employees undergo a series of rigorous (although not altogether unpleasant) training sessions. Once they've made it, they become the final authorities on when our whisky is ready to be bottled. Every batch is tasted no fewer than five times, from distillate fresh out of the fermenter, to miscellaneous samples from barrels at various stages of maturation, to finished product ready to be bottled. And because we make our whisky in such small batches, tasting is conducted daily.
