The Stewards Release

Maker's mark wood finishing series

WHAT IS WOOD FINISHING SERIES?

Wood Finishing Series is a collection of one-of-a-kind expressions that use an innovative wood stave-finishing technique to enhance distinctive characteristics already present in the brand’s iconic bourbon. 10 specially selected oak staves are used to create unique, limited edition expressions of Maker's Mark.

This chapter of Wood Finishing Series will focus on the teams behind Maker’s Mark. Our makers. These whiskies will celebrate the unique role they play in delivering the Maker's experience.
For 2026, the Stewards Release celebrates the teams who oversee every step of our production process. Their attention to detail and meticulous care ensures excellence in everything we do, from the initial liquid to the final bottling. This release is a tribute to the true “stewards” of the distillery.

The next release will celebrate another story from our people in Loretto, so keep an eye out for what’s to come.

Cask Strength Boulevardier

Putting our stamp on a riff of another classic, the Negroni, we replace gin with Maker's Mark Cask Strength, delivering intriguing depth and warmth. Said to have been born at the legendary Harry’s New York Bar in Paris in the 1920s, the cocktail is named after Erskine Gwynne's French version of The New Yorker magazine called Le Boulevardier. And of course, Cask Strength opens a new chapter for this classic.

Maker’s Sour

The Maker’s Sour is a refined and refreshing blend of sour and sweet. Our Maker’s Sour is inspired by the Whisky Sour, a refreshingly citrus-forward cocktail; 1862’s "The Bartender's Guide" by Jerry Thomas is recognized as one of the first mentions of this classic. This cocktail has had enduring appeal and reaches a new level of refreshing when the sour notes are mixed with Maker’s® sweetness.
