The grapefruit in the Aperol pairs perfectly with the natural sweetness of Maker’s Mark® Bourbon. I loved adding a bit more vermouth and enjoying this over crushed ice.


  • 1-1/2 parts Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
  • 3/4 part Aperol
  • Absinthe
  • Dash rhubarb bitters
  • Splash Dolin® Blanc Vermouth de Chambrey
  • Orange zest for garnish


  1. Rinse a martini glass with a little absinthe and ice, stir and let sit and bind to the glass.
  2. Fill a shaker with ice, add the Maker’s Mark® Bourbon, Aperol, bitters and vermouth.
  3. Stir gently.
  4. Discard the ice and absinthe.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the glass.
  6. Garnish with a strip of orange zest.
