A tale of two whiskies, the Penicillin cocktail opens with aromas of smoke and peat and then gives way to a balanced sweetness and a pop of spice. Maker’s®, Scotch, ginger, honey and lemon recall the flavors of warm drinks, but in thie case, are best served on the rocks.

Maker's Mark® Bourbon

1/2 part Laphroaig® Single Malt Whisky

1 part fresh lemon juice

1/2 part honey syrup*

1 disk fresh ginger
-
Candied ginger for garnish

*For the honey syrup

2 parts honey
-
1 part hot water

Instructions

Step 1Make the honey syrupTo make honey syrup, add 2 parts honey to 1 part hot water. Mix until honey dissolves into a syrupy consistency. Add additional honey to taste.

Step 2Muddle ginger and add ingredientsMuddle ginger in shaker and then add Maker’s Mark®, juice, honey syrup and ice.

Step 3Shake and strainShake well and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Step 4Add some scotchTop with Laphroaig®.

Step 5Garnish and enjoyGarnish with candied ginger.
