Maker’s Sour

The Maker’s Sour is a refined and refreshing blend of sour and sweet. Our Maker’s Sour is inspired by the Whisky Sour, a refreshingly citrus-forward cocktail; 1862’s "The Bartender's Guide" by Jerry Thomas is recognized as one of the first mentions of this classic. This cocktail has had enduring appeal and reaches a new level of refreshing when the sour notes are mixed with Maker’s® sweetness.

Manhattan

The elevated flavor and higher proof of Maker's Mark 46 brings a new level of sophistication to this elegant classic. This simple yet flavorful cocktail is said to have first been served at the Manhattan Club. Like many stories involving whisky, its history is a bit cloudy, but one thing is clear, the Manhattanite who first concocted this cocktail created a classic with true staying power.

New York Sour

Don’t let the name fool you! The New York Sour may sound like an East Coast classic, but its roots likely trace back to Chicago. Over time, it’s picked up more than a few nicknames — Continental Sour, Claret Snap, even Southern Whisky Sour — all hinting at its ability to charm just about anyone, anywhere. With a bold bourbon base and a dramatic float of red wine, the New York Sour is as eye-catching as it is delicious, and it’s easier to make than it looks.

A glass of whiskey cocktail with ice, garnished with a lemon peel and cherry, sits on a table. A whiskey bottle, bowl of lemon slices, and a golden shaker are in the background. The setting conveys a warm, elegant mood.

Frankie’s Brown Butter Maple Soy Whisky Sour

One of our favorite collaborators, James Beard Award® Winner Frankie Gaw, went above-and-beyond to deliver a paired cocktail even took that same pairing of soy sauce and whisky and challenged himself to make a cocktail. It features Maker’s Mark 46 that’s fat-washed with brown butter and sesame oil that’s then mixed with maple syrup, yuzu, and soy sauce that both highlights and complements the rich char siu and whisky.

QUESTION ABOUT YOUR BARREL?

We've got you covered!

Once we’ve marked your barrel as mature, you’ll receive an announcement and all the instructions you’ll need! You’ll have a six-month window to purchase bottles from your Ambassador batch. Those windows run from April 1-Sept 30, and Oct 1-March 31.
You’ll be eligible for a free Golden Ticket Tour for you and one guest! Keep in mind that we’re only booking tours about 6 weeks out, so if you don’t see the dates you’re interested in on the website, check back with us a little closer to your visit. While you’re here, you’ll be able to purchase and dip your personalized Ambassador bottles as well. Just tell our team how many you’d like to purchase when you arrive!

Just stop by the Homeplace here at Star Hill Farm and check in with our team. Once they identify your account, they’ll get your bottles set and waiting for you to dip at the Gift Shop.
No RSVP is necessary if you’re just stopping to pick up your bottles, but if you are planning on getting more than 9 it’s very helpful to give us a heads up so you don’t have to wait any longer than necessary!

Unfortunately, no. We are unable to mail your Ambassador bottles. If you’re afraid you may miss your window, you can always claim your personalized bottles later. They won’t have bourbon from your specific batch, but it will still be the Maker’s Mark® you know and love, and you’ll still be able to hand-dip them!

Of course! If you aren’t able to make it down during your graduation window, you’re welcome to have a friend or family member stop by to pick up your bottles in your place. They’ll just need your Ambassador ID number.

You can book your Golden Ticket Tour here. Keep in mind that we’re only booking tours about 6 weeks out, so if you don’t see the dates you’re interested in on the website, check back with us a little closer to your visit.

No worries! If you missed your graduation window, you are still more than welcome to take your Golden Ticket Tour and claim your personalized bottles. The bourbon in your bottles won’t be from your specific batch, but it will still be the same handmade Maker’s Mark® you know and love.
